On Friday 14th July DCC Catering Students went on a trip to Claremont Farm and Wood park farm on The Wirral.
They started the day at Claremont Farm where owner, Andrew Pimley, talked to the pupils about the produce grown on the farm and the produce sold in the farm shop. They learnt all about food miles, sustainability and seasonal produce.
They had a chance to walk through the fields picking their own fruit which they LOVED!
We then headed to Wood Park farm which is a dairy farm connected to Liverpool University. The Pupils learnt all about a day in the life of a cow and even got to milk a cow! The highlight was definitely seeing the calves who were just days old.
The trip will be very useful for the pupils who start their year 11 task when they come back in September.
A huge thanks to both farms for being so welcoming and informative.
