Rapid Drop-in Testing for Key Workers in Tameside
Rapid testing is now available for voluntary, community and social enterprise volunteers and workforce with no symptoms. Supporting communities throughout the pandemic, in public facing roles, means your workforce is eligible to receive regular and rapid testing.

Anyone who can’t work from home, or comes into regular contact with the public, is strongly encouraged to get tested. You’ve done so much for our borough and this testing service offers the opportunity to help to protect you, your loved ones, and those you come into contact with.

Public Health staff recommend that anyone who is eligible gets tested twice a week – an increase from once a week. Testing gives you a result for that moment in time and so by testing more frequently, we can better help to prevent the spread of Covid-19 unknowingly. With evidence to suggest the new variant of Covid-19 may be linked to a higher mortality rate we need to do everything we can to stop the spread and protect each other.

You don’t need to book, you can simply turn up at one of the rapid testing centres and bring ID and proof of occupation.

Volunteers will need to provide proof of their key worker status and confirmation letter to present when attending testing sites. Action Together can provide a volunteer confirmation letter, please contact lisa.hannibal@actiontogether.org.uk.

Tameside Vaccine Roll-Out
Vaccines for Tameside and Glossop are being delivered by GP led hubs based on our Primary Care Networks – groups of GP practices within a neighbourhood. There are now five vaccination hubs delivering the vaccine locally – Ashton, Hyde, Denton, Stalybridge and Glossop. There is also a national vaccination centre based at The Etihad Tennis Club in Manchester.

As roll-out continues, all those people aged 70 years and over and those who are clinically vulnerable should have received an invitation to book an appointment for their vaccine. If you are in these groups and haven’t received or seen your letter you can book a vaccine appointment here.

If you are not aged over 70 or are in a clinically vulnerable group please wait until you are contacted by the NHS for your vaccination appointment.

You can watch a video here about why the vaccine is important.

Census 2021 – Tameside Groups Your help is Vital!
Census 2021 will provide a snapshot of modern society, particularly relevant due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tameside households receive a letter with a unique access code, allowing them to complete the questionnaire on their computers, phones or tablets. A paper questionnaire (available in multiple languages) can also be sent to you.

Taking part in the census is so important, as it gathers essential information that’s used for things that affect your Tameside community. Public bodies use census information to help plan and fund services like housing, education and healthcare, this could mean improved services such as doctors surgeries, schools, transport links for Tameside etc.

Make 2021 an Active Year!
As many of us are spending more time at home, we’re likely to spend less time moving and more time sitting which isn’t good for our physical or mental health.

Moving more lifts our mood, burns off energy, helps us sleep better and enables us to manage a healthy weight.
