Denton Community College Celebrates Remarkable Improvement in GCSE Results

Denton Community College, in collaboration with Northern Education Trust, is celebrating a significant leap in GCSE performance, marking a proud moment for students, staff, and the wider community.

A notable 61% of students achieved a pass in both English and Maths, with 44% securing a strong pass in these core subjects. This achievement is projected to surpass the national average for the first time, reflecting an impressive 18% improvement in a single year. It is likely that Denton Community College may stand out as one of the most improved schools in the country.

The success extends to individual student achievements, with outstanding performances from Lily Aldred, who secured six grade 9s, one Distinction, and two grade 8s, and Hadi Qaiser, who achieved one grade 9, six grade 8s, two grade 7s, and one grade 5.

Donald Cumming, Acting Principal of Denton Community College, expressed his gratitude to the students and staff, stating:

“We are incredibly proud of our students, who have truly earned these results. Their commitment and hard work have been rewarded with exceptional outcomes, demonstrating the strong, supportive culture we’ve built at Denton. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff. Their unwavering commitment as part of the Northern Education Trust family has been instrumental in driving these improvements.”

Dean Buckley, Executive Principal, echoed these sentiments, adding:

“These results are a testament to the vision of the Northern Education Trust to enhance the life chances of the young people in our care. I am immensely proud of the entire Denton community—students, staff, parents, carers, governors, and the Trust Board. Your continued support has been crucial in making these achievements possible.”

Denton Community College has been under the guidance and management of Northern Education Trust (NET) through a National Leader of Education (NLE) contract, ahead of its formal conversion to academy status within the Trust.

Mark Sanders, Chair of Northern Education Trust, concluded:

“These remarkable improvements underscore the transformative power of the Trust. We are thrilled for the students at Denton and deeply proud of their achievements. However, our journey doesn’t end here—we remain committed to further enhancing this school’s performance, striving to make it one of the best in the region.”
