Rapid Drop-in Testing for Key Workers in Tameside
Rapid testing is now available for voluntary, community and social enterprise volunteers and workforce with no Covid-19 symptoms. Supporting communities throughout the pandemic, in public facing roles, means your workforce is eligible to receive regular and rapid testing.

Anyone who can’t work from home, or comes into regular contact with the public, is strongly encouraged to get tested. You’ve done so much for our borough and this testing service offers the opportunity to help to protect you, your loved ones, and those you come into contact with.

Public Health staff recommend that anyone who is eligible gets tested twice a week – an increase from once a week. Testing gives you a result for that moment in time and so by testing more frequently, we can better help to prevent the spread of Covid-19 unknowingly. With evidence to suggest the new variant of Covid-19 may be linked to a higher mortality rate we need to do everything we can to stop the spread and protect each other.

You don’t need to book, you can simply turn up at one of the rapid testing centres and bring ID and proof of occupation.

Volunteers will need to provide proof of their key worker status and confirmation letter to present when attending testing sites. Action Together can provide a volunteer confirmation letter, please contact lisa.hannibal@actiontogether.org.uk.

Census 2021 – Make It Count for Tameside!
Census 2021 will provide a snapshot of modern society, particularly relevant due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tameside households will receive a letter with a unique access code, allowing you to complete the questionnaire (available in multiple languages) on your computer, phones or tablets. If you prefer a paper questionnaire (also available in multiple languages) can also be sent to you.

Charities and voluntary organisations often use the census as evidence to get funding. It helps businesses to understand their customers. The census also provides important information on population diversity, allowing organisations to know whether they are meeting their responsibilities and triggering action where necessary.

Don’t forget! We are holding a Census #WednesdaysWeekly session on Wednesday 3 March, 10am – 11am. The session is for anyone that wants to know more about the Census, how to complete it or ask any questions. Book your place here.

Tameside Sport & Leisure – Have your Say!
A public consultation has been launched on Tameside’s sport and leisure assets and they need your views.

Active Tameside is a charitable trust that manages leisure services on behalf of Tameside Council. Like many local authorities, Tameside Council is having to make difficult decisions in light of the extremely challenging economic climate brought on in part by the Covid-19 pandemic.

A sport and leisure review has been undertaken across leisure estate which proposes initial cost-saving measures aimed at achieving financial sustainability. The Council has developed these cost-saving proposals in partnership with Active Tameside.

It wants to hear your views on how these proposals might affect you and how it could continue to deliver health and wellbeing services to the local population.
